Mr. Mike Gray from Greytown has been confirmed as the newest member of the Featherston
Community Board. Mr. Gray was the only candidate so has been declared elected unopposed as the
number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies. Being the only candidate
negated the need for an election.

Mr. Gray fills the extraordinary vacancy left from the resignation of Sophronia Smith in June this year.
Although residing in Greytown, there are no legal restrictions to Mr. Gray standing for this
Featherston role as both his nominators reside in Featherston.
Council welcomes Mr. Gray for his good working knowledge of local government processes, having
previously been a South Wairarapa District Councillor, and his passion for furthering the interests of
local community.

With a number of major projects and initiatives planned for the region, Mayor Alex Beijen and
Council are looking forward to working closely with Mr. Gray and the Featherston Community Board.
Mr Gray will be sworn in at the next Community Board meeting on 10 August 2021.
