Martin Connelly, the Mayor-elect of the South Wairarapa District Council, is delighted that Melissa Sadler-Futter has accepted his invitation to become Deputy Mayor.
Ms Sadler-Futter was the highest polling candidate in the Featherston ward in the recent election, and she brings a range of abilities and experience to the job, including:
- professional experience in community engagement, project planning, governance and management
- her expertise as a Business Operations Manager for a local company supporting a mix of Kiwi and international businesses to solidify their processes and procedures and have wildly successful businesses; and
- a strong connection with the community. Her Grandparents once owned the local dairy, and she and her husband are currently restoring a 107 year old villa on the outskirts of Featherston. She is surprisingly handy with a hammer and power tools.
“Importantly, Ms Sadler-Futter has the energy, intellect and time available to make a significant contribution to the district over the next three years,” said Mr Connelly
Both Ms Sadler-Futter and the Mayor-elect are determined to provide accessible, inclusive representation to our local communities so they feel valued, heard and engaged with the Council.
