After several days of intense work by contractors, Hinekura Road is now accessible to all vehicles, just in time for Christmas.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution and maintain a 10km per hour speed limit when driving over the slip zone.
The road was closed on December 18 after heavy rain caused substantial slippage, compounding damage from major subsidence in June 2021.
The fix is temporary but a good solution has been found until the more permanent remediation plan outlined to Hinekura residents recently can begin in the New Year.
The Council will continue to monitor the road and asks residents to do so as well, as the area is still a high risk area and will be vulnerable during a substantial rain event.
