A few weeks ago, the vinyl in the Old Featherston Courthouse was tested to ascertain whether asbestos was present and the results tested positive. Accredited Asbestos Specialists NZ Ltd (AASL) have been engaged to remove the asbestos.  They have started setting up their equipment inside and the exterior area will be roped/taped off advising the public that asbestos is being removed. The team is expected to be on-site for the next 2-3 weeks.

Once the removal is complete, in the weeks following, the Courthouse will be refurbished with new vinyl and carpet and will be advertised for lease.
