Notice of by-election to Featherston Community Board

A by-election is required to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the Featherston Community Board. The vacancy has arisen from the recent resignation of Sophronia Smith. Please see the SWDC by-election information sheet for details.

Nominations – Nomination Form
Nominations for the above position opened on Thursday 24 June 2021 and must be made on the official nomination form. Copies of the nomination form and a candidate information sheet can be requested from the South Wairarapa District Council Office, downloaded here from the electoral officer (Contact details below). Completed nomination documents must be received by the electoral officer no later than 12 noon on Thursday 22 July 2021. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by EFTPOS, cash or on-line banking (see nomination form for a/c details)

Candidates are encouraged to also submit a candidate profile statement and recent colour photograph. The requirements for profile statements and photos are set out in the candidate information sheet. All nomination documents must be lodged together. Candidates should refer to the candidate information sheet for further details.
Electoral Rolls
A preliminary roll for the by-election can be inspected at the South Wairarapa District Council Office, 19 Kitchener Street, Martinborough during normal office hours from Thursday 24 June to Thursday 22 July 2021.

Electors may enrol or amend their enrolment details on the residential electoral roll by:
• Completing an enrolment form available at Post Shops, public libraries or the South Wairarapa District Council office
• Calling 0800 36 76 56
• Visiting the Electoral Commission website (vote.nz)

Updates to the preliminary electoral roll close at 4pm on Thursday 22 July 2021.
Applications for registration as a ratepayer elector are to be made on the non-resident ratepayer elector enrolment form available from the South Wairarapa District Council office or can be downloaded from www.swdc.govt.nz and must be returned to the electoral officer before 4pm on Thursday 22 July 2021.

Election Details
If an election is required to fill this vacancy, it will be conducted by postal voting using the First Past the Post (FPP) electoral system. Candidate names will be listed in pseudo-random order on the voting papers.
The order of candidates will be determined by lot at the South Wairarapa District Council office, 19 Kitchener Street, Martinborough at 2pm on Thursday 22 July 2021. Any person is entitled to attend and observe.
