Hinekura Road is closed to all traffic between Masterton Martinborough Road and Moeraki Road for the next few days and including the weekend.  

There is road subsidence between Hikawera Road and Moeraki Road with a detour starting at Longbush Road (Popes Head). The subsidence has been caused by water coming down the hillside above a section of the road. We’re removing trees in the area today and over the next few days, and completing some temporary repairs to allow for light vehicle access. We urge all road users to follow instructions and signage in the area for their own safety.

Detour Information

The detour for anyone going east out of town starts at Longbush Road. They will need to turn right onto Admiral Road, follow this road onto Clifton Grove Road, then onto Wainuioru Road. Turn right onto Ngakonui Road at the Summerhill Road intersection. Turn right and across the bridge at the Moeraki Road intersection and follow the road to Hinekura Road

For anyone going west into Martinborough, they should turn onto Moeraki Road, turn left at the Ngakonui Road intersection, then left onto Wainuioru Road at the Summerhill Road intersection. Follow onto Clifton Grove Road and through to Admiral Road. Turn left onto Longbush Road then follow this road until the Hinekura Road intersection which should lead to Martinborough.
