Proposed New Electorate Boundaries

New Zealand’s electorate names and boundaries are being reviewed by a statutory body called the Representation Commission from October 2013 to April 2014.  The Representation Commission’s report on Proposed Electorial Districts is now available for public comment until 10am , Monday 23 December 2013:

For more detailed information on proposed changes and how to object to any of the changes, go to http://www.elections.org.nz/events/2013-electorate-boundary-review or visit any of the district’s Libraries to view hard copies.

The Commission will summarise any objections and will make the summary available to view on 14 January 2014.  THe public can then make counter objections until 29 January 2014, following which the Commission will conduct hearings in February 2014.

(Please note that the South Wairarapa electorate and the Māori electorate that covers South Wairarapa have no proposed changes.)
