Street Days, Appeals and Raffles
If you want to raise funds or collect money on the street for a charity, you need to apply for permission from Council.
You can apply online by using the form below or by emailing health@swdc.govt.nz. There is no fee for this application.
We will check our calendar to see if the proposed date, time and place is available. If we already have a booking, we’ll talk to you about other options, noting that preference is given to South Wairarapa District organisations.
Terms and Conditions
- Collectors may not physically approach the public to ask for donations or other support.
- The activity cannot make excessive noise that is intrusive to others.
- The activity cannot make it difficult to access nearby shops, business or premises.
- The management of shops, businesses or premises adjacent to an intended location at which the activity is based or used is to be consulted prior to the activity taking place.
- Any prizes that may be offered can be displayed over a maximum of two parking spaces provided that the approval of adjacent shop owners is obtained.
- The Council’s Environmental Health Officer is to be consulted prior if there will be food prepared or cooked on-site, other than pre-packaged food, as part of fund raising activities.
- Street day appeals may not be located in or near Council owned or occupied premises without Council’s permission.
