Consultation is now closed for the Draft Featherston Masterplan & Implementation Plan.
The consultation asked for the community’s feedback on the Future of Featherston Draft Masterplan which proposed a series of infrastructure improvements over the next three decades. Included in the proposal was a comprehensive approach to transform the town centre and its surroundings, emphasising urban design, housing development, business and industry zoning, and improved connectivity.
When the Masterplan is finalised, it will inform;
- Councils priorities during our Long-term and Annual Planning processes.
- the District Plan provisions for Featherston in the Wairarapa Combined District Plan Review; to date provisions for Featherston have been set aside to await the outcomes of this consultation. There is likely to be the opportunity to prepare specific design guidance for Featherston to ensure that the desired outcomes established in the final Masterplan are supported by the revised District Plan.
We want to thank the Featherston community for the great support over the consultation period. We received a fantastic response, with 59 formal online submissions being made. Other feedback was gathered during community engagements such as Saturday market pop-ups, a community workshop, Featherston walk & talk and a pizza at the park event for rangatahi.
Council will now go through the process of collating the submissions and feedback before the Featherston Masterplan Hearing and Deliberations on 3 April.
