Following an engagement period with South Wairarapa residents and ratepayers in May 2022 (and after assessing the feedback), the initial design of the Greytown Wheels Park was approved and has since been out for tender.

Council is now weighing up the responses from these contractors to the design, all of whom have skate park experience.

Feedback from the public was helpful, particularly around the choice of plants and ground cover so that leaves did not get in the way.

Construction plans are likely to face the same challenges facing the wider construction sector, such as the availability of supplies.

The Wheels Park project has seed funding from Council and additional community fundraising will be needed to build and install the full design as proposed.
