Late last month we got in touch to update you about blue staining in Featherston and Greytown.
Earlier this month we got in touch to update you about blue staining in Featherston and Greytown and the work we are doing to balance acidity at the Waiohine and Memorial Park water treatment plants.
The new temporary pH dosing system has been installed and started at the Waiohine water treatment plant. We are now working on a similar system at Memorial Park water treatment plant that requires a shutdown of the treatment plant for approximately which started at 9am this morning.
While this shutdown will not affect your access to drinking water, we ask that you try to conserve as much water as possible during the day to help ease demand. You might also see water tankers in the area, please don’t be concerned, as we are moving water around to make sure the reservoirs and tanks don’t run dry.
Once complete, and once watering restrictions ease, we will be removing the remaining low pH water from the network by doing a quick flush.
We would also like to remind you that Featherston and Greytown currently have a Total Outdoor Water Ban. This is due to demand levels remaining high, and low levels in the Waiohine river. We’ll be in a position to ease restrictions when we see a sustained drop in demand and an increase in the Waiohine river level. In the meantime please continue to conserve water. Thank you for your patience during this time.
