Contractors need to undertake emergency works to clear and repair slip sites on State Highway 2 over the Remutaka Hill.

In order to do this safely, the road will be CLOSED OVERNIGHT on Wednesday 25 August from 9pm-4am.

This emergency work is taking place under Covid Level 4 protocols. Most of us will be isolating at home. However, there are some who must travel for essential purposes.

• Emergency vehicles will have access throughout the closure.

• Others who must travel for essential purposes will be escorted safely over the hill at intervals during the night.

• Please allow extra time for your journey and wait at the closure points as directed by the traffic controllers.
