Spatial Plan

The consultation period for the Spatial Plan has now closed. Ongoing work for the Spatial Plan will include a more detailed assessment into certain areas, master-planning for the towns, community engagement and planning beyond residential growth.

South Wairarapa Spatial Plan – Our Future Focus 2050

How do you want South Wairarapa to look in the future? What is strategically important for growth in our district? Where should development occur? What areas should be protected? These are the important questions we want your input on to develop a spatial plan for the District.

Our Spatial Plan will provide a blueprint for what we want our district to look like in the future. The challenge is to develop in ways that support the future prosperity and wellbeing of our district but protects what makes it special.

It will help us balance the environmental, social, economic, and quality of life factors affecting our community and guide allocation of resources such as land use and construction of capital works (core infrastructure like roads, water supplies, parks and playgrounds).

The Spatial Plan will align with our district vision, refresh and feed into future annual plans, long-term plans and district plans, and provide guidance for the development of infrastructure.
